Mr. Joel Cole Sr. aka"Joe" was born to William and Annie Cole on September 11, 1942 in Winston-Salem, NC.  He peacefully transitioned to glory on April 13, 2023.  He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 62 years, Frances whom he loved dearly, his daughter, Francine Cole Maddox, one brother, Willie, two brother-in-law, Clarence Braddy and Lester Braddy, two sisters-in-law, Maggie Louise Braddy Ross and Juanita Braddy Lowery.  He attended he local public schools and graduated from Atkins High School. Joel worked as a chief machinist operator and a security guard. He retired from RJ Reynolds after numerous years of service. He was also an aide with Baptist Hospital. He was a member of Second Calvary Baptist Church.

He is survived by two sons, Joel Cole Jr.(Tamiko) and William Cole; six grandchildren, Tina Johnson(Nasion), Donovan Cole, William Cole II, Krista Brown,  Joel Cole III, and Saliah Rice; eight great grandchildren; sisters, Barbara Surratt, of Shelby, NC, Emma C. Ingram, Ann Galloway and  Ruby C. Griffin; sister-in-law, Gwendolyn Cole all of Winston-Salem, NC; brother-in-law, Roger Lowery and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends

Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 pm Friday, April 21, 2023 at Parklawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 1:30pm-2:00pm at the cemetery in the mausoleum. His remains may be viewed Thursday April 20, 2023 from 12pm-6pm at the funeral home.
