Obituary

Mr. Joel Willard Wilson, known to family and friends as "B" or "Joe", was born on February 1, 1943 in Duford, South Carolina (Horry County) to the late Cortex Sr. & Inez Johnson Wilson. Joel departed this life and went to be with the Lord, Thursday June 10, 2021.

Joel served in the military for many years and was recognized as a Vietnam Veteran. Joel was also a member of Hills Chapel Baptist Church in Duford, South Carolina. He was a loving husband, brother, father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle, great uncle, cousin and friend. Immediately to meet and take part in his presence, you would automatically notice his tell it like it is, loving and laid back demeanor.  He thoroughly enjoyed spending time with his family and there's no stranger he ever came across. Joel loved to spend time at the beach, watch all sporting events, listen to his music, making his own CD's and occasionally sneaking off to Golden Corral for a hot meal and some "cream". To know Joel was to love him, and he will truly be missed.

Joel was preceded in death by five brothers, Clyde Wilson, Cortez Wilson Jr., Emerson Wilson, Booker T. Wilson Sr., and William Boyd Wilson. Along with three children, Victoria E. Cash, Christopher Witherspoon, and Lisa Wilson.

He leaves to cherish his memory: his loving and devoted wife, Betty Wilson of Jamestown, NC; remaining brothers Jimmy Wilson of Virginia, Lee Vonia(Patricia) Wilson of Winston Salem, NC; loving children Derek Bullock of Winston Salem, NC; Princess Thomas(Jeff) of Winston Salem, NC; Lakedra Bullock of Winston Salem, NC: Anthony Witherspoon(Pam) of Winston Salem, NC and Quila Tyler(Timothy) of Ohio: twelve grandchildren, twenty-five great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild; devoted mother-in-law Regenal Dunlap of Winston Salem, NC; devoted best friends James White of Atlanta, GA and Pastor Sam Hickerson of Winston Salem, NC; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.
