Mr. John E. Gray. Our Father has allowed another one of His sheep to sleep. We have been most gracious and honored to have had our loved one with us during his stay on Earth. Our beloved John Eddie Gray aka "Pete" was born October 13, 1955, in Charlotte, North Carolina to the late Richard C. and Isabel McCoy Gray. He was a resident of Winston-Salem most of his life where he attended the Winston-Salem Forsyth County public schools. He was formerly employed by the City of Winston-Salem Streets Division and Market America until his health failed.
Mr. Gray loved spending time with his family and friends, fishing, listening to music, playing his guitar, watching cowboy movies, and taking care of his beloved cats.
He was a member of the Golden Gloves Boxing Club.
Mr. Gray was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Richard C. Gray, beloved grandmother, Thelma M. Barber and aunt, Carrie Bell Robinson.
Mr. Gray transitioned peacefully at his residence on Sunday, November 21, 2021, surrounded by family.
Mr. Gray is survived by his wife, Maria Bracamontes of the home; one daughter, Yvette Gray of Morrisville, NC; two grandsons; Mikah and Maalik Douglas; one great-granddaughter, Emori Nicole Douglas; six stepchildren, including 3 devoted, Jahel Flippin, Eliud Bracamontes and Yarely De Jesus; one brother, Brevette E. Gray; four sisters, Gloria Williams, Christine (Laymon) Conner, Sherrie Smith and Tawana Smith; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and devoted friends.
A Service of Memory will be held 1:00 pm Monday, November 29, 2021, in the chapel of Hooper Funeral Home.
Inurnment will take place 1:00 pm Thursday, December 2, 2021, at the Salisbury National Cemetery.
