Mr. Joseph Brown Jr., aka "Big Brown"  & "Man" was born January 5, 1963 in Winston-Salem, NC to Joseph and Claritha Owens Brown.  He attended the Winston-Salem Forsyth County schools and was also a retiree of the Winston Salem Forsyth County Schools as a child nutritionist.

"Big Brown" loved fishing, basketball, listening to gospel music, going to the park and having cookouts. He especially loved spending time with his family. His favorite  football team was the Pittsburgh Steelers.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Claritha Owens Brown and two brothers, Bernard Owens and Joseph Abbott.

He departed this life Monday September 15, 2025 at Atrium Wake Forest Health following a period of illness.

He leaves cherished memories to his two sons, Terrance Brown and Shaquan Brown and their mother Dodwong Marie Frierson; grandchildren, Jo'siah and Ava Smith, Shaquan and Shiloh Brown;  four sisters, Shirley Eldridge, Stephaine Brown, Beverly Brown and Wanda Brown; two brothers Dave Owens and Hansford Brown; one aunt Avalee Wesley; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
