Justin Anthony Monroe, 31 affectionately known as" JAY", transitioned to eternal life (at home) on Tuesday February 23, 2021. He was born in Winston-Salem, NC on August 13, 1989 to Mr. Waymon L. Monroe, Sr. and Mrs. Karen Y. McCoy.

Justin grew up as a child at Grace Presbyterian Church, and later became a member of Galilee Missionary Baptist Church of Winston-Salem, NC.  He attended the Winston-Salem Forsyth County Schools, R.J. Reynolds High School and completed his education at Forsyth Technical Community College. He was a faithful employee of Johnson Control, Kernersville, North Carolina.

Justin was preceded in death by his Grandfather, Chalmers C. Young and grandmother, Martha J. Young.

Justin leaves to cherish his father, Waymon L.(Debora) Monroe, Sr,; mother, Karen Y. McCoy and stepfather, Rev. Dr. Chris E. McCoy, one son, Jovan Baker; three brothers: Rev. Waymon L.(Leola) Monroe, Jr., Antonio D.(Carla) McCoy, Christopher J.(Alexis) McCoy; grandmother, Hazel Hollingsworth all of the city; one uncle, Michael (Lisa) Young of Phoenix, AZ. , a  host of cousins, other relatives and many devoted friends.

A public viewing will be held Tuesday March 2, 2021 at Hooper Funeral Home. Funeral service will be private. Interment  Piedmont Memorial Gardens.
