Obituary

Kimberly "Ber" Peters Strong entered the joy of her salvation on February 8, 2025.  She was born in Jacksonville, Florida on October 2, 1958 to Earl and Alma Peters and moved with her family to Greensboro, North Carolina in 1972.  Since that time, Kim has lived throughout the triad.  Kim courageously faced many health challenges including being a diabetic at the age of 3, receiving the gift from a wonderful donor of a lifesaving pancreas and kidney at the age of 51, all the way to dealing with Alzheimer's and living in a memory care facility for her last 5 years.  She was an example to all in dealing with the struggles of life. She always kept a deep and abiding faith and had a positive outlook on life.

Kim's immediate family includes her husband of 44 years, David, her daughter Katelyn Shires and husband Ethan Shires, her daughter Katharine Carpenter and husband Brad Carpenter, her grandson Landon Carpenter, her sister in Marietta Georgia, Pamela Roberts and husband Larry Roberts, her niece Lauren Roberts, nephew Ryan Roberts and wife Elizabeth and a great niece Madeleine Roberts.  Kim also was blessed with a special friend that was much like a sister to her, Robin Reavis.

Kimberly graduated with honors from Greensboro College with a Bachelor of Science in Special Education with certifications in learning disabilities and education of mentally handicapped students.  She loved teaching and her students and taught for over 9 years at various schools. She then taught from time to time at various pre-schools.

Kimberly's greatest purpose and desire was that of being a wife, homemaker, mother and grandmother.  She loved children and served as a youth leader and Sunday School teacher for over 15 years in various Moravian Churches.  Her passion for life was bright and included spending time with family and friends, boating and swimming at Lake Norman, the beach, trips to the mountains, watching Katelyn at equestrian competitions, music and decorating for every occasion and holiday.

In lieu of flowers, Kim requested during her life that friends and family please become organ donors and consider volunteering time or making donations to charities and people in need.
