On May 22, 2022, our Lord and Savior extended his arms to welcome Mr. LeeBrestle Willard Shores, affectionately known as "Lee" into heaven. Lee was born in Winston-Salem on August 17, 1951 to Mrs. Shirley Ann Morgan and Mr. Lee Ernest Kinard.
Lee is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Marian Frances Young Shores; sons, Reginald Shores, LeeBrestle Shores, Jr., and William David Kirkland, Jr.; sister, Patricia Tuttle; brother, Freddie Morgan, Jr.; niece, Tosha Shore; nephew, Fredrick Morgan; aunt, Marian Phelps; uncle, Emanuel Mickens, Sr.; cousins, Debra Shore, Kevin Shore, and Amanda Massey; sisters-in-law, Jacqueline Hester, Rebecca Ellis, and Cynthia Young; brothers-in-law, Benjamin Young, Martin Young, Robert Young, Raymond Young, and Bennett Hester; grandchildren, Lee, Roslyn, LeeDreya, Montrell, and Lazaria Shore; goddaughter, Destiny Wardlow; and a host of relatives and friends.
Lee was preceded in death by his parents; stepfather, Mr. Freddie Morgan, Sr.; brother, Leonard Shore; mother-in-law Mrs. Marian Willette Young; and grandmother, Ms. Flora M. Shore, whom he greatly adored and loved dearly.
Lee graduated from Carver High School (Class of 1970) and retired from Brown and Williamson Tobacco Corporation. He served tirelessly as a Shop Steward and ultimately Vice President of the Bakery, Confectionary, and Tobacco Workers (BCT) Local Union at Brown and Williamson.
Lee enjoyed sports and was a die-hard fan of the North Carolina Tarheels and"America's Team", the Dallas Cowboys. He was an avid gardener and was well known for his beautiful roses and hardy vegetable gardens. Lee truly enjoyed spending time outdoors "playing in the dirt." He would often say, "I am one with nature" and it was duly noted. Lee humbly accepted an award presented by Winston-Salem City Council member Vivian Burke in 2013 for exemplary maintenance of his beautiful lawn and gardens.
LeeBrestle Willard Shores was a private, generous, and fun-loving person who enjoyed life and spending quality time with his family. Our precious memories of him will forever remain in our hearts.
