She attended Woodland Avenue Elementary School where she was taught by her aunt. At the age of 40, Lillie decided to further her education at Forsyth Technical Nursing and CNA programs in the early 70's, earning a degree which allowed her to work with her passion, the elderly. She was also a classroom volunteer for Sedge Garden Elementary and Union Cross Elementary schools. She was a faithful listener of the Light 1340 on 103FM and becoming a member of the Light Church in her homebound years. She would daily call in to share her love of Jesus to her "Boss Lady" and the Light Church Family.
In 2019, she became "Mother Of The Year" for the Light Radio Station where she attended the Mother's Day Celebration each year wearing her crown and sash proudly.
