Obituary

Louise Parks Scales, affectionately known as Bea passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 26, 2025 at her home. Born on November 11, 1940 in Winston-Salem, North Carolina to Mae Frances Gwyn, she was the next oldest of four children.

She attended the Forsyth County Public Schools and graduated from Atkins High School.

After high school she began her working career at Duplant Textiles. From there she went on to become a dedicated worker at Thomasville Furniture Company for over 40 years as a furniture inspector.

On August 10, 1963, she married Edward Andrew Parks. From that union Sandra Gwyn Rivers, Edward A Parks, Jr.  and Alisa' L. Parks were born.

Louise dedicated her life to Christ, joined and became a lifelong dedicated member of Union Chapel Baptist Church. She diligent served as a part of the Heritage choir and the Usher board. Louise was a true prayer warrior covering her family and village.

She enjoyed a few of her pastimes, which were planting, thrifting and shopping. She was also an avid cook and focused on her collection of recipes. One of the many kept secrets, Louise was a dancer when she was younger and performed at a local restaurant.

Preceding her in death were her parents, brother, Otis Gwyn, sister, Patricia Carter and great-granddaughter, Averie Tindal

Left to cherish her precious memories are her brother, John "Bill" Gwynn (Tina) of Colorado; her three children, Sandra Gwyn Rivers, Edward A Parks, Jr. and Alisa' L. Parks of Winston Salem, North Carolina; four grandchildren, Aryanna (James) Tindal, Lawrence (Joy) Rivers, Myia N. Rivers and Darrus (LeAnn) Rivers; four great grandchildren, Josiah Rivers, Austin Tindal, Elijah Rivers, Autumn Tindal and a bonus great-granddaughter, Jamiya (Logan) Tindal, sister-in-law and very close friend, Patricia (Parks) Dancy, special friends, Rev. Zella Johnson and Bridget Bethea, along with a host of nieces and nephews and friends too numerous to name.

Funeral services will be conducted at 12:00 noon on Saturday July 5, 2025 at Union Chapel Baptist Church. The family will receive friends from 11:30 am-12:00pm at the church. Interment will follow in Piedmont Memorial Gardens.

Her remains may be viewed Friday July 4, 2025 from 1:00pm-5:00pm at the funeral home.
