Obituary

Maggie Jean Glenn Sharpe was born on May 23, 1949, to the late Fred and Lela Banks Glenn. She departed this life on January 13, 2025, at her home.

Mrs. Sharpe is a native of Winston-Salem, NC. She is a product of the Winston-Salem Forsyth Schools and is a graduate of Anderson Senior High School. She is also a graduate of Forsyth Technical Community College.

She was a member of Galilee Missionary Baptist Church. Mrs. Sharpe was a well-known gifted singer. She and her late husband (Kimberly Sharpe) were the founders of The Voices of KMS Gospel Singers. The group performed in many cities throughout the nation.

Her career included positions at the Arts Council of Winston-Salem, the Winston-Salem Transit Authority, and she retired from the Winston-Salem Journal.

She departed this life Sunday January 12, 2025 at her residence.

She is survived by her loving son, Kenta Sharpe; 1 grandson, Joel Sharpe-Hayes, special friend, Joy Fuller and her favorite cousin, Sky Banks. She also leaves to mourn many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held  2:00 pm Saturday January 25, 2025 in the chapel of Hooper Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 1:30 pm-2:00 pm at the funeral home Saturday.
