Mr. Marcus "DOC" Worthy, 63, was born on March 2, 1956 to Helen Worthy and William Kennedy Eaton of Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Marcus transitioned peacefully to his heavenly home on Saturday, August 10, 2019.
Marcus was a graduate of Reynolds High School, Class of 1974. He was a free spirit who never met any strangers. One of his favorite scriptures, Jeremiah 12:1, "You are always righteous, Lord, when I bring a case before you, Yet I would speak with you about justice, Why Does the way of the wicked prosper then why do all the faithless live at ease?" During his tenure in Winston-Salem Forsyth County Schools, he won several awards including The Key To The City at Paisley High School for his excellent artwork. Marcus was a very devoted and dedicated Manager at AutoZone Corporation for 30 years where he was the recipient of The Dale Carnegie Award, a Leadership Award and several Merit Awards.
Mr. Worthy was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Wayne L. Worthy; and one sister, Earlanda LuSylvia Walker.
Remaining to carry on his legacy are his devoted family, including his loving wife of 29 years, Margie Paulette Worthy; children, Corey Polite, DeMarcus Polite, Ebonie (Moustapha) Toure, Felicia Simmons, Markeesha (Yvonne) Pearson, Marcus Worthy Jr., Marvin Worthy; step-son, Hayden Crawford; Father to Natasha Simmons; six sisters, Helen Porter, Barbara Worthy, Deborah King, Alice Worthy, Nikki (Robert) Young, Delba (Charles) Hanes; three brothers, Letmon (Nancy) Williams, Richard (Cynthia) Worthy, Ronald (Ruth) Worthy; eleven grandchildren; three great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted at 12:00 noon Tuesday August 20, 2019 at Shiloh Baptist Church. Interment will follow at Piedmont Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 11 am-12 pm at the church Tuesday.
