Marvella was born in Winston-Salem, NC on February 6, 1958. She was preceded in death by her loving Parents Ella Mae Purdy Gray and Marvin E. Gray.

Marvella was called to her heavenly home on February 3, 2023 after a lengthy illness.

At an early age, she dedicated her life to Christ. She attended First Waughtown Baptist Church where she continued to walk with and know God. Marvella graduated from Parkland High School in Winston-Salem, NC and continued her education at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, in Charlotte, NC obtaining a Bachelor's degree in Accounting. It was there that Marvella was initiated into Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated. Marvella lived and worked in Winston-Salem, NC until her death.

Those left to cherish her memory are her Aunts Zelphia Gray Watson of Durham, NC and Jacqueline Gray of Berkeley, MO, close Cousins Cheryl W. Hudson, David Jones (Dorothy), Jerome Jones (Carolyn), Gregory Watson (Gena) and a host of other loving cousins, family and special friends.

Memorial services will be held on Friday, February 17, 2023 at 11:00 AM, at First Waughtown Baptist Church with Dr. Dennis Bishop officiating. The family visitation will be held from 10:30 AM until 11:00 AM on Friday at the Church. Interment will be held privately at Brooklyn Memorial Gardens, Bladenboro, NC.
