Obituary

Mary Jean Harrison Bradley 83, passed away peacefully, Wednesday July 6, 2022, at Atrium Wake Forest Baptist Hospital.  She was born in Forsyth County and was educated in the WS/FC Schools where she was a 1955 graduate of Atkins High School.  She attended Winston-Salem State Teachers College and Forsyth Technical College.  She was a retired Licensed Practical Nurse having worked as a private duty Pediatric Nurse.

She was preceded in death by her husband Elijah A. Bradley; mother Helen C. Harrison; and father Eugene B. Harrison.

Spiritually, at New Bethel Baptist church she was a member of the Bereavement Committee, Flower Club, Usher/Nurses Board, Willing Workers, and Martha Missionary Group.  She was also very active in the community and a member of several Masonic Affiliations: Beauty of the West #36, Order of the Eastern Star, PHA, Elizabeth Court # 7 Order of Cyrene Crusaders PHA,  Sethos Court #105, Daughters of Isis; and Clara N. Hayes Ladies of the Circle of Perfection PHA.

Leaving to cherish fond memories are her four children; Anthony (Tina) Harrison; Sharon (Johnny) Grooms; Sabrena (Anthony) Hatchett; and Sonya Bradley; four  grandchildren; Denarie Hatchett, Sharika Grooms, DeMarcus Bradley and DeShawna Bradley; three great-grandchildren; Kai Bradley, Jayceon and Janyala Bradley; three sisters-in-law, Arzaia Bradley Thomas, Constance Bradley of Winston-Salem, NC and Mary Bradley of Upper Marlboro, Maryland;three devoted friends, Geneva Wright, Barbara Lybrand, and Carol Carter; a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be conducted at 12:00 Noon Friday July 15, 2022 at New Bethel Baptist Church. The family will receive friends from 11:00 am-11:45am after which Order of the Eastern Star rites will be held at the church. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. Her remains may be viewed Thursday July 14, 2022 from 12pm-6pm at the funeral home.
