Mrs. Mary Ann Carpenter Plowden, born on May 1, 1943, in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, embraced her eternal rest on June 29, 2026, at her beloved home. A devoted resident of Winston-Salem, she was a proud graduate of Atkins High School and dedicated her career to nursing, ultimately retiring from ARCA.

Mary Ann found spiritual comfort and community at the Carver Road Church of Christ. She filled her life with joy through shopping, traveling, and baking for those she loved.

Preceded in death by her brothers, Bernie Potter and June Carpenter, her sister Dorothy Carpenter, and her grandson Corey Plowden, Mary Ann's legacy survives in the hearts of her loving husband, Charles A. Plowden, their four children: Charles L. Plowden, Shaye Plowden, Walter Plowden, and Clarence Plowden, all residing in Winston-Salem. Her memory lives on through her grandchildren Wyteria Glenn and Ashley (Cory) France, and great-grandchildren Nevaeh and Nadiya Fields, Cace France, Malachi Glenn, Aiden and Cassidy France, William Plowden, and Cory Plowden, as well as numerous other relatives and treasured friends.

Celebrating her life, funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 8, 2026, in the chapel of Hooper Funeral Home, preceded by a gathering for friends and family from 12:30 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery.
