Mrs. Maxine Delores Fulton Johnson was born May 6, 1933 in Kernersville, North Carolina to the late James Odell and Viola Jones Fulton. She was a 1951 graduate of Carver Consolidated High School. She later attended Kate B. Reynolds Hospital School of nursing and received her Nursing degree in 1957. Ms. Maxine was a retiree of Forsyth Memorial Hospital after 43 years of service. She was also one of the first volunteers of the Hospice Community program.
Ms. Maxine had a love for gardening which was evident around her home. She loved her family dearly and enjoyed hosting cookouts for them and friends. In the community she was the president of the Ogburn Station Neighborhood organization. She was also the main organizer of the Historic Brooks Cemetery of Kernersville.
Spiritually, she was a faithful member of Oak Grove Baptist Church with over 75 years of active service. While there she held many positions which consisted of the Women's Missionary Board, former youth director, member of the senior choir, organizer of the Mary Dudley Auxiliary, just to name a few.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Johnson; one son, David Eugene Johnson; three brothers and two sisters. She departed this life Friday December 8, 2023 at her residence
She leaves cherished memories to her two daughters, Enolagay L. Johnson and Elnora Laverne Johnson; four grandchildren, Shakeilah Johnson, Fredrun Johnson, Terren Johnson and Tommy J. Shore III; six great grandchildren; one brother William F. Fulton; nephew/son, Howard Johnson; nieces/daughter, Helen Richards; brother-in-law Eugene (Dorothy) Johnson, Columbia, SC; sister-in-law, Shirley Fulton, Greenville, SC; a host of other relatives and friends including a devoted friend, Viola Ward.
Funeral services will be held 1:30 pm Saturday December 16, 2023 at Oak Grove Baptist Church. The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm-1:30 pm at the church Saturday. Entombment will follow in Gardens of Memory Cemetery, Walkertown, NC
