Melvin Delewis Dodd, son of Walter and Patricia Harris, was born March 26, 1971 in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.  He departed this earthly life at his residence on March 6, 2022.

Melvin attended the local public schools and was a graduate of R.J. Reynolds High School.  He was an employee of Novant Health Forsyth Medical Center and in his spare time, worked with his father hanging sheet rock.  Spiritually, Melvin attended Greater Faith Baptist Church.

Melvin was preceded in death by a brother, Darren Wright; and grandparents, William and Mary McCray.

He leaves to cherish many precious and dear memories to his wife, Geneva Carter Dodd; parents, Walter and Patricia Harris; sons, Melvin J. Harris, Terrell Harris; step-daughter, Shakayla Sides; step-son, Calvin Carter; sisters, Renae Wellman, Angela Dodd, Sheryl Dillard; brothers, Walter Harris, Jr., Dean Dodd (Michelle), Eric Dillard; grandchildren, Melody Dodd, Malanie Dodd; step-granddaughter, Myrical Wilson; special aunts, Elaine Tillman (Reggie) and Gale Spears; special nephews, Maurice Wellman, David Dillard and Erin Dillard; special cousin, Marlon Carson; special friends, Darrell Foy (Patricia) and Step Bird.

Funeral services will be held 2:00pm Monday, March 14, 2022 in the chapel of Hooper Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Gardens of Memory Cemetery, Walkertown, NC.

His remains may be viewed Sunday, March 13, 2022 from 12pm-6pm at the funeral home.
