Ms. Melvina Yvette James was born April 28, 1981 in Winston Salem, North Carolina to Melvin Chaplin Jr. and Charlene James. She was a graduate of J.F. Webb High School in Oxford, NC and was an employee of Applebees Restaurant.

She was preceded in death by her father Melvin Chaplin, Jr. Ms James departed this life Tuesday September 22, 2020 at her residence.

She is survived by her two sons, Jahara Grady and Jayden James both of the home; her mother, Charlene James; brothers, Mel (Candace) James, Melvin Roan, Keith Roan, Calvin Roan, and Christopher Roan; a sister, Tamika Chaplin; two uncles, Charles and Tyrone Hennie; three great aunts, Maxine Coleman, Ophelia Samuels, Jennie Hennie; three nieces, Damani and Dasia James, and Breyonna McRight; special friends, T. Romero and Jamar Fox; a host of cousins, other relatives and friends.

A service of memory will be conducted 3pm Friday, October 2, 2020 in Hooper Funeral Home chapel.
