Mildred Williams was born on July 1, 1930 to the late Bessie Williams and Theodore Settle in Winston Salem, North Carolina.

Mom was educated in Forsyth County Public Schools.  She was a long-time member and regular attendee of Friendship Missionary Baptist Church until her health declined.  She sang on numerous choirs, served on the Usher Board and on the Hospitality Committee.

She was a beautician and owner-operator of Mildred's Beauty Shop and continued hair care for a few special clients into her early 80's.  She really loved taking care for and "growing" her clients' hair; but most importantly making them happy.

Her favorite activity was singing on choirs and she sang on the "Big Four" Community Choir until her health prevented attending practices.  She loved music; and also enjoyed listening to her sons' band.  Another one of Mom's favorite activities was playing cards.  She enjoyed cooking and loved to cook big family meals.

Mildred was preceded in death by her son, Howard D Williams and daughter, Dorn D Williams and a brother and sister.

She leaves to cherish her memory two daughters, Ivory Douthit and Crista Douthit; two sons Williford (Lynn) Williams and Winfred (Mary) Williams; a special granddaughter and great-grandson of the home, Alsacia P Williams and Hakeem Williams; step children Brian Trotter, Bruce Burton and Rachel Burton; seventeen grandchildren and a host of great-grandchildren; a brother Ray Settle; two sisters Loretta Settle and Shirley Mitchell as well as a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held 1:30pm  Monday June 21, 2021 at Hooper Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Piedmont Memorial Gardens. he family will receive friends from 1:00pm-1:30pm Monday. Public viewing will be held Sunday June 20, 2021 from 12pm-6pm at Hooper Funeral. Home
