Mrs. Minnie Louise Harris Boyd was born June 30, 1932 to the late Robert and Sallie Harris Sr. in Gastonia, NC. She departed this life Monday April 11, 2022 in Pine Bluff, AR.

Mrs. Boyd spent most of her life as a resident of Winston-Salem, NC where she attended the Forsyth county public schools. After graduating from Atkins High School in 1950 she earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Winston Salem Teachers College, now Winston Salem State University in 1955. She earned a Master of Education and Continuing Certificate in Learning Disabilities from Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan

She entered the field of education as a Primary teacher in the Hickory public Schools in Hickory NC. Her career continued in the Detroit Public School System as a Special Education Educator. She retired July 1988 after thirty-three years of service.

Mrs. Boyd was preceded in death by her husband, L.C. Boyd, her parents, Roberts and Sallie Harris; 3 brothers, Robert Harris Jr., Willie E. Harris and Charles D. Harris; five sisters, Daisy Harris Lathan, Carrie Harris Patton, Margaret Harris Smith, Rosa Lee Harris and Betty Harris Ferguson.

She leaves to cherish memories  a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, god daughter, four stepchildren, and several dear friends.

Funeral services will be held 12:30pm Saturday April 23, 2022 from the chapel of Hooper Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 12:00pm-12:30pm at the funeral home. Interment will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery
