Mr. Mitchell Alexander of Winston Salem, NC passed away Saturday, October 31, 2020 at his home
unexpectedly.
Mr. Alexander was born on October 30, 1942 in Wilkes County to Mrs. Vera Jane Alexander Clark. Mr.
Alexander was an active member of Rickard's Chapel AME Zion Church serving as the President of the
LAY Council and member of the Trustee Board.
Mr. Alexander was a proud military veteran where he served in the US Army from 10 April 1963 - 1
March 1985. He earned many medals and commendations. Upon his retirement from the military he
went back to school earning an Associate's Degree allowing him to begin his own business "Alexander
Construction". In 2000, Mr. Alexander began work for Forsyth County in the General Services
Department where he worked for several years before retiring. Mr. Alexander was a caring and loving
man to all who knew him. He enjoyed his life, gardening and sharing it with others and traveling with his
family. He enjoyed trains and airplanes and hanging out with his grandsons.
In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his brother Foy Eugene Alexander and one sister
Vivian Dawn Clark Hawkins.
Mr. Alexander is survived by his wife, Linda Alexander of the home, two children, JR of Durham, NC and
Lindsey Mason (Billie) of Winston Salem, NC, two grand children Billie Mason V and Banner Alexander
Mason, two sisters Bernice Bailey and Marilynne Lewis (Dennis) of Winston Salem, NC, sister-in-law
Brenda D. Barber (Calvin) of North Wilkesboro, NC, Sybil Bowick, Durham, NC, brother-in-law James R.
Bowick of Lenoir, NC and mother-in-law Frances W. Bowick, of North Wilkesboro, NC and a host of
beloved nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Mr. Alexander will lie in repose at Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home of North Wilkesboro, NC on Tuesday, November 10, 2020 from 12:00 PM until 3:00 PM.
Graveside services with Military Honors will be held 2:00 pm Wednesday, November 11, 2020 at Parklawn Memorial Gardens 2730 Peters Creek Parkway, Winston Salem, NC 27127.
