Monique Danielle Phillips, the daughter of Donald Timothy Phillips and Karen Denise Caldwell entered this world just after midnight on Sunday, February 12, 1989, in Winston-Salem, NC. She was the second of fraternal twin girls. Officially, she was a day younger than her twin sister, but she was actually about ten minutes younger. On Good Friday morning, April 18, 2025, at her home in Smyrna, Georgia, Monique placed herself in the hands of Jesus the Saviour and Sacrificial Lamb of God.
Monique attended the public schools of Winston-Salem, NC. While her mother was transitioning from Winston-Salem to the Atlanta, Georgia area, Monique lived with her aunt and uncle and attended the Buncombe County schools in Asheville, NC. After moving to the Atlanta, Georgia area, Monique attended the Atlanta area public schools and graduated from Creekside High School, Palmetto, Georgia in 2007.
In addition to her parents, Monique is survived by her children, Jayliah Pope, Alani Phillips, and Kameron Wilcher; fiancé, Grady Wilcher of the home; twin sister, Dominique Danielle Phillips of Smyrna, Georgia; brother, Michael Lamont Austin of Smyrna, Georgia; grandmother, Dorothy McCray of Winston-Salem; aunts: Janice Prince Horton (Richard) of Asheville, NC; Carolyn Prince Gillis of Winston-Salem, NC; Jeanette McCray of Winston Salem; and Donyell Phillips Roseboro (Bratis) of Wilmington, NC; grand aunt, Virginia Haywood of Greensboro, NC, cousins: Ciera Roseboro, Maya Roseboro, sister cousins: Shaketa Gillis Ford of Winston-Salem, NC; Shara Horton of Asheville, NC.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon Saturday May 10, 2025 in the chapel of Hooper Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 11:30am-12:00pm at the funeral home. Interment will follow in the Guil-Rand Memorial Park Cemetery, 1550 NC Highway 62 W High Point, NC . Her remains may be viewed Friday May 9, 2025 from 12pm-5pm at the funeral home.
