Ms. Neomie East was born October 23, 1982 to Robert Jr. and Phyllis East in Toledo OH. She has been a resident of Winston-Salem, NC and was a 2001 graduate of West Forsyth High School. Ms. East attended Winston Salem State University where she majored in Sociology. She later furthured her education at Ashford University working on her Bachelor Degree. For the eight years she was employed at the Winston-Salem Forsyth County school system at Hanes Lowrance School. She was an auditor at the Hampton Inn until her health failed. Neomie was a giver and would give her last to help those around her. She always kept a smile on her face and just loved having fun. She was very adventurous and had a great sense of humor about life.
Spiritually, she was a member of Rising Ebenezer Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her father, Robert East Jr., oldest sister Jeomie East and grandparents Norman and Emma Scipio. Ms. East departed this life Sunday November 7, 2021 at Forsyth Medical Center following a period of illness.
She is survived by her only son, Devon East Grant of the home and his father, Ronald Grant; mother Phyllis East; sister, Weomie (Clarence) Beale all of Winston-Salem, NC; brother Robert III, aka,Tim (Ivy) East of Eugene, OR; three nieces, Myesha and Charlette Smith, Juanita East; one nephew, Samuel Smith; three aunts. Sylvia Little of Fayetteville, NC, Betty Scipio of New Haven, CT and Carolyn Scipio of Winston-Salem, NC; four uncles, Sam and Allen Scipio of Winston-Salem, NC, Jimmy (Priscilla) Scipio and Marvin Scipio of New Haven, CT; a host of other cousins, other relatives and dear friends including devoted friends, Key Shawn Mosley, Torez Dawkins, Kennard Hackett, Michael Robinson, Moe Marley and William Young; a special friend Felecia Scott.
Funeral services will be held Friday November 12, 2021 at 1:00 pm in the chapel of Hooper Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 12:30pm-1:00pm at the funeral home.
