Patricia H.
Broome
Sep 19, 1946 — Apr 12, 2023
Patricia Hazel Broome was born September 19, 1946 to the late Reverend Charlie H. Hazel Sr. and Mrs. Willie Mayfield Hazel. She was the youngest of 8 children. After an extended illness, Patricia was called to rest in God's loving arms on April 12th, 2023.
Patricia was born in Winston Salem, NC where she was a 1964 graduate of Anderson High School. She started her career with the Department of Veterans Affairs in 1972 until her retirement in 2013 after 41 years of service.
Patricia was a dedicated life-long member of Reynolds Temple CME Church now known as Christ Temple CME Church. She was a strong woman of God who was faithful to her church and religion. Patricia did bible study twice daily for many years. Those who knew that did not call or come by during her sacred times of devotion.
Gift giving was how Patricia continuously showed her love for people. Children and those in the most need were near and dear to her heart. She cared for others in a way that lifted their spirits and reminded them that we are all God's children. Patricia believed that everyone deserved to be loved and respected regardless of their life circumstances. Her actions reflected her beliefs as she faithfully donated to the Samaritan Ministries, Veterans organizations, St Jude's Hospital, TCT, Boys Town and more. She always said that she kept a couple of dollars on her so she would be prepared to give to others throughout her day as she was led by the Spirit.
Affectionately known as GaGa to her grandchildren, anyone who knew her, knew that Patricia LOVED Mariah and Morgan. She was a grandmother who believed in giving spiritual guidance, an abundance of gifts and tight hugs every time she saw them. She referred to her daughter and grandchildren as her snowflakes because each was uniquely made by God.
Patricia was preceded in death by her husband William Carl Broome and siblings Charlie Hazel Jr, Samuel Hazel, Paul Hazel, Naomi Fisher and Ruth Cooke. She leaves to cherish her memory one daughter, Mia (Greg) Parker; granddaughters, Mariah and Morgan Parker; Sisters, Emma Neal Varner of Jacksonville, Florida and Mary Carter of the city: devoted niece, Tondalaya Wright and a host of beloved nieces, nephews, neighbors and friends.
The family will receive friends 12pm Thursday, April 20th at Christ Temple CME Church with the funeral service following at 1pm.
