Paul Eugene Gwyn (73) was born to Cornell Gwyn, Sr. and Viola Brown Gwyn of Winston-Salem on October 1, 1948.  He departed this life on May 14, 2022 after a brief illness.  He graduated from Carver High School in 1966 and attended A & T State University in Greensboro, NC.

He served his country in the US Army from 1969 to 1971.   After leaving the military, Paul worked in management for Marriott Facilities Services and Aramark. He was a renowned wood carver, and his work can be seen at Carver High School, Grace Presbyterian Church and many other locations throughout the area.  At Steve Harvey's request, Paul was proud to carve an Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. plaque which hangs in Steve's office

Paul married Juanilla Moore on October 1, 1988 and to this union 1 son, Paul William "PJ" Gwyn, was born.  He loved all sports, but his favorite teams were the Washington Commanders football team and the Atlanta Braves Baseball team.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Rebecca Gwyn Porter.  He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Juanilla Moore Gwyn; his son, Paul William Gwyn "PJ" of the home and his granddaughter, LaQuavia Gwyn; siblings; Cornell Gwyn, Jr., William Franklin (Christine) Gwyn, and Brenda Gwyn, all of Winston-Salem; foster brothers, Bernard (Danita) Washington and Donald (Penny) Moore; and a multitude of other family and friends.

A public viewing will be held on Sunday, May 22, 2022 from 12:00 noon – 6:00 p.m. at Hooper Funeral Home, 1415 14 ^th Street NE, Winston-Salem, NC.  A celebration of life service will be conducted on Monday, May 23, 2022 at 12:00 noon at Grace Presbyterian Church, 3901 Carver School Road, Winston-Salem, NC with family visitation 30 minutes prior to the service.
