Obituary

On Friday, May 23, 2025, Mr. Phillip Willie Jeffreys, III the beloved son of the late Juanita and Phillip Willie Jeffreys departed this life in peace at home surrounded by family members.  Phillip was born on December 13, 1953 in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his dear sister Ms. Phyllis Rosalind Jeffreys, and his step-son, Mr. Jimmy Douglas Perkins.

Mr. Jeffreys was a member of First Waughtown Baptist Church and served faithfully as a member of the Usher's Ministry until his health failed. Mr. Jeffreys served in the United State Marine Corps and was a member of the African American Veteran Association, Inc.  He retired from the Housing Authority of Winston-Salem, NC and was a member of the Housing Authority's choir.

Phillip leaves to cherish his memory, a loving and devoted wife of 39 ½ years, Mrs. Mary Jane Smith Jeffreys; two sons, Mr. Phillip Jeffreys (Lavondra), Jr., and Mr. Phillip Jeffreys IV; two daughters, Ms. Patrice Jeffreys and  Ms. Janie Latonya Perkins;  four sisters, Ms. Beatrice Patrick, Mrs. Patsy (Ruben) Watkins, Ms. Patricia Jeffreys all of Winston-Salem, North Carolina and Mrs. Frances (Ruben) McLendon of Virginia Beach, Virginia; five grandchildren, Ashley Perkins; Krystal Perkins, Keyanne Perkin, Ja'Lorice Jeffreys and Phillip Kenard Jeffreys; four great-grandchildren; two sister-in-laws, Mrs. Blanche (Napoleon) Vance, Mrs. Felecia (Andre) Holmes; three special nieces, Ada Latoya Harshaw, Regete and Rejay Jeffreys; and a special nephew Emanuel Jeffreys both of Winston-Salem, North Carolina; a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends including, Rev. Mack McConnel, Joe Boseway, Michael Greggs, Michael Wilson, Ronald Moore, The Mack and McFarland Families. Phillip was loved by all who knew him.

Thanks to Novant Medical Center for their support. Thanks to everyone for your prayer and other acts of kindness and support during this time of transition.

Funeral services will be held at 11:30 am on Saturday May 31, 2025 at Hooper Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Dennis Bishop Officiating. The family will receive friends at 11:00am. Inurnment will be in Salisbury National Cemetery at a later date.
