Phyllis Renae Baker was born October 2, 1967 to Philip R. Mitchell Jr. and  the late Wiillie Mae Baker.  She departed this life on  August 24 2023 at her residence.

Phyllis was educated in the Winston-Salem Forsyth County School system. She was employed with Quality Inn for 20 years and resigned when her health declined. Phyllis lived in Cleveland Avenue Homes most of her life. She was a honorary mom/aunt to many. To know her was to love her. Her door was always open. She was the #1 caregiver and babysitter in her city.

In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by her sons, Thaddeus Lamont Baker and Zachary Cecil Boyd Baker; grandfather and grandmother, Willie B Baker and Calperta Bradley; three uncles; two aunts; and her sister, Malikah Rice.

Phyllis leaves to cherish with lovely memories; a daughter, Calperta Baker(Denard Simmons); a son, Ricky Davis Jr (Shantakiya Bethea Davis);  grandchildren Kemoni Bethea Davis and Rahzel Davis; honorary sons and daughter, Bernard Boyd Sr., Bryan Clark Jr. and Jamani Clark; a devoted nephew, Bernard Boyd Jr; four sisters, Michelle Baker, Tara Baker, Uhuru(Tukie)Rice, Ayonna Lackey(Botchkey); two brothers, Michael R Baker Sr and Phillip(CJ) Mitchell III; special aunts Priscilla Houston and Sandra Baker; special uncles,  Randy Baker, William Baker and James Baker; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends

Funeral services  will be held 1:00 pm Friday September 1, 2023 in the chapel of Hooper Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 12:30pm-1:00 pm Friday at the funeral home. Her remains may be viewed Thursday August 31, 2023 from 1pm-6pm at the funeral home.
