Obituary

Our beloved Phyllis Rosalind Jeffreys 72, got her wings on Tuesday February 20, 2023. She was born in Orange New Jersey, on May 31, 1950 to the late Phillip Willie Jr. and Juanita Jones Jeffreys. With two bundles of joy in tow, they relocated to Winston- Salem.

Phyllis attended Forsyth County schools. Her junior year at A. H. Anderson High School (Class of 1968) she was a participate in a Tailoring elective course offered at Atkins High School.  Phyllis was employed at Social Services while attending the now named Forsyth Technical Community College.  With a desire to serve her country she enlisted in the US Navy November 1982. She served on the USS Frank Cable, Naval Station Norfolk Brig, USS John C. Stennis. She was a recipient of the Navy Commendation Medal, Achievement Medals from the Secretary of the Navy, Major Efficiency Awards, Good Conduct medals, and numerous letters of Accommodation and Appreciation. She was also a member of DAV and USO. Phyllis retired on March 1, 2012.

After retirement Phyllis worked for EDS while completing studies at Tidewater Tech Virginia Beach (Class of 2005). She's on the Tidewater Tech Honor's List and was elected into the National Technical Honor Society.

In 2008 Phyllis moved from Virginia Beach, Virginia to Gates, North Carolina where she became a member of Abundant Hope Baptist Church.  She went to church faithfully until her health declined.  She loved her church family and enjoyed having talks with Pastor Black.

Cooking was her forte, she was an avid fan of basketball, football, and soccer. Phyllis enjoyed arts and crafts, working cross word puzzles, watching old TV shows, and making family videos.  Phyllis was generous, fun loving, a friend, and most of all a lover of GOD.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by John Leecost Jr. (nephew) and Leigh Anderson (niece).

Left to cherish her memories are five loving siblings, Beatrice Patrick, Patsy (Ruben) Watkins, Phillip (Mary) Jeffreys, Patricia Jeffreys, Frances (Ruben) McLendon, and a host of nieces and nephews.

We will truly miss being with Phyllis and getting text messages ending in "Love from the Country". She fought the good fight and now she can rest.

A special thanks to the staff of the VA Administration for taking care of our loved one.
