Obituary

Quentin Adonis Smith, affectionately known as "Fiya" to his family and friends, was born February 21, 1976, in Winston-Salem, NC, to Carolyn D. Richardson. He entered eternal rest on April 11, 2025, at the age of 49.

Quentin "Fiya" completed his early education in the the local schools in Winston Salem. He enlisted in the Job Corps Center in Virginia, where he earned his High School Diploma.

Upon returning to Winston-Salem after his Job Corps experience, Quentin began working for various companies in the light industry sector for years. Upon his illness he lastly worked for FedEx. Fiya was well known as a hard worker and a beacon of love and devotion to his family.

Fiya was a complex man, composed of happiness, peace, ambition and life which he enjoyed to the fullest. He was also a man who would give a stranger the shirt off his back. He touched many lives in a unique way, even as he sometimes struggled with his own life experiences. He was, simply, a man quilted together by his own faith, navigating life with the tools he had in his toolbox. Fiya's strong personality, boundless energy, and infectious laughter will forever remain in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing him. He loved his family dearly and did his best to express that love in the ways he knew how. Like all of us, he fell short at times, but he was a praying man who trusted in the promise that all things shall work together for good. While we grieve his loss, we take comfort in knowing that he lived a life of purpose, family, and love.

Quentin was preceded in death by his grand-parents Duval and Queen Reid, uncles Clayton, Nalenzer, and Rufus Reid, and aunt Burnell Brown.

Fiya leaves to cherish his memory his mother and father, Carolyn and Michael Richardson, his sons, Adonis, Trafaya, Ezekiel, Powerful, Warrior, and Nalenzer, his daughter, A'Blessing, brother Maurice (LaToya) Smith, aunts Rosa Richardson, Margaret Reid, Daisy (Julius) Walker, and uncle, Napoleon Reid. A devoted and loving long-time friend, Roberta Brewer, his wonderful caregivers, Sonya Smith, and Lachaundria Hairston. Many nieces, cousins, extended family, and dear friends, who loved him deeply.

A Celebration of Life Memorial service for family and friends will be held at 3:00 pm Saturday, April 26, 2025 at Hooper Funeral Home.
