Obituary

Mr. Richard Anthony Love, affectionately known as "Tony Love", was born on September 6, 1942 to Mattie Rosemond and Sewood Love in Winston-Salem, NC.

Though well-spoken and highly intelligent, Tony made the inspiring decision to complete his formal education at the age of 55 by receiving his GED and going on to pursue his Associates Degree from Forsyth Technical Community College. This accomplishment was monumental in his life, as it proved that change is never too late and one can do great things at any age. In fact, he kept the Winston-Salem Chronicle article written about him and his educational endeavors on display to share with and witness to others.

Tony was a successful entrepreneur all of his life. He established a company called Doors Unlimited that provided the Triad with a great many peepholes that are still in use today. A career path that he enjoyed most in life was managing several local golf shops. This directly tied into his passion for golf and the class of the sport. He enjoyed playing and watching tournaments and could always be found avidly following the matches leading up to the Masters.

The affable and transparent manner in which Tony related to people was a quality all mentors and friends should have. He had a way of drawing you in with his charisma and mild demeanor that made engaging effortless. He was good for a word of encouragement and would urge others to be introspective enough to see how they could live at their highest and best. He was immensely proud of becoming a Deacon at Friendship Missionary Baptist Church and later at TranZition MinistrieZ, a wonderful place of worship that he helped to spearhead. His passion for ministry was amplified in working alongside the pastoral staff.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Chana Mobley (Caldwell) and sibling Sewood Love, Jr.

After a long battle with heart disease, Richard Anthony Love, succumbed to his illness at Kate B Reynolds Hospice Home on April 24, 2025.

Left to survive him are his daughters, Tomorrow Bernetta Simon, Toni Annette, Cheryl Elaine and Arnita Michelle Love; one beloved son, Antione Denard Sims; god-sons, Rev. Dr. Lester Boyd and Lawrence Martin; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and other loving friends and family including: sisters Vera (Nathaniel) Williams and Doris Friday.

Funeral services will be held at 12:30pm Saturday May 3, 2025 at TranZition MinistrieZ, 929 Old Hollow Road Winston-Salem, NC. The family will receive friends from 12:00pm-12:30pm at the church Saturday. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. His remains may be viewed Friday from the 12pm-5pm at the funeral home.
