Robert Cook, 80, was born October 10, 1942 in Winston-Salem, NC. Robert transitioned to be with the Lord on April 13, 2023.

Robert was a graduate of the 1962 class of Atkins High School in Winston-Salem and enlisted later that year in the United States Air Force. Majority of his employment was with RJ Reynolds where he retired as a machinist with over 30+ years of service.

Robert was selfless, kindhearted, devoted, generous and the ultimate provider for many. He loved his family unconditionally and his grandchildren were the apple of his eye. Robert was an exceptional family man, a faithful servant in the church and a role model in the community.

Robert's legacy includes being one of the founding members of the Family YMCA in Winston-Salem, being a fabulous cook and having a wicked sense of humor. He was a man of few words, yet his actions spoke volumes. He was known for his dedication, support and willingness to help anyone without question.

Robert lived a full and prosperous life. He has definitely left his mark on the world and will be greatly missed. He was preceded in death by his mother, Azalee Cook McMillian, his brother, John Henry Cook and his wife of 51 years, Jean Cook He leaves to cherish his loving memories: three children, Karla Cook of Winston-Salem, NC, Rhonda Williams (Artemas) of Concord, NC, Michael Cook of Winston-Salem, NC; three grandchildren, ShaQuan Cook, Micah Cook, Karlissa Cook; one brother, William McMillian; one aunt, Catherine Sawyer, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Celebration of Life will be held 2:00pm Saturday, April 22, 2023 at Antioch Christian Church, 1432 Underwood Avenue, Winston-Salem, NC 27105 with family visitation preceding at 1:30pm. Interment will follow in Piedmont Memorial Gardens. His remains may be viewed Friday April 21, 2023 from 12pm-6m at the funeral home.
