Obituary

Robert Lee Martin, 87 of High Point, NC peacefully transitioned from his earthly life to be with his Heavenly Father on January 23, 2024 at Trellis Supportive Care in Winston Salem, NC. He was born on October 2, 1936 to the late Pinkney and Ida May Martin in Forsyth County.

Known to most as Bobby or Bobby Lee, he served in the United States Navy as an aviation mechanic. He spent most of his time serving in the Philippines.

Bobby Lee worked several different jobs after service, from Winston Salem, NC to New York before he found his passion as a truck driver for Beeson Hardware. Here Bobby's career as a truck driver thrived  for over 30 plus years. He also worked at Overnight as a forklift driver for 20 years before retiring.

Bobby's love in life were fast cars, food, western movies, but his greatest love of all was his Family. Nothing brought more joy to him than being with and around his Family.

Bobby Lee was preceded in death by his parents, Marlon Martin (brother), Johnny Martin (nephew), Peggy Rorie (bonus daughter) and Elizabeth Rorie (Special Companion).

Left to cherish his memories and carry on his legacy are his children Timothy Wilder, Darryl Hannah, Melonie Martin, Robin Martin, Rosalyn Martin, and Rhonda Little all of Winston Salem, NC, Tasha Caldwell of New York, and Kajuane Rorie of Fayetteville, NC. Bonus children Jackie McLean, Jimmy (Deanna) Rorie, Elaine Rorie, Patty Rorie, Valerie Rorie, and Angela Rorie all of High Point, NC. Three siblings, Deloris Martin-Gwyn, Mable (Irvin) Shakir, and Fredrick (Doris) Martin all of Winston-Salem, NC. A host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 2:30pm Sunday January 28, 2024 at Living Water Baptist Church, 1300 Brentwood Street  High Point, NC 27260 . The family will receive friends from 2:00pm-2:30pm Sunday at the church. Mr. Martin's remains may be viewed Saturday January 27, 2024 from 12pm-6pm at Hooper Funeral Home.
