On August 12, 1926, a baby girl named Rosalie was born to Mary Odis Grey Glenn and Garfield Cornelius Glenn in Winston Salem, NC on 25 th Street. Her mother told her that her feet came first, and Rosalie thinks that could be the reason for why she's backwards. Rosalie is the baby of ten children. She has four sisters and five brothers, all of whom are now deceased.
Rosalie attended Kimberly Park Elementary School, Madison Colored High School, and Winston Salem Teacher's College now Winston Salem State University.
Rosalie retired from National Linen Industries however, she also worked at the city library and was also a beautician.
Her next-door neighbor introduced her to her husband, William Thomas Young, who she called "Snookie" because most people called him "Snook".
Rosalie was a lifelong member of Mt. Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church and played organ and directed the choir for several years. She was also a member of the Women's Progressive Club as well as the Community Club. She leaves several nieces, nephews, church family and friends to cherish her memory.
