Obituary

Mrs. Ruby Mae Watson Turner was born to the late Ernest and Rosetta Watson in Fuquay-Varina, NC. She attended the public schools in that area.

Ruby was sixteen years old when she relocated to Winston-Salem, NC. She was employed at Hedgepeth Cleaners in Winston-Salem for 20 years before becoming employed at North Carolina Baptist Hospital where she worked for 20 more years before retiring.

She became an ordained minister under the leadership of Bishop S.D. Johnson of Macedonia True Vine Pentecostal Holiness Church in 1989. Mother Ruby was dedicated to attending church. She served on the usher board faithfully and was a mother to many. Mother Ruby will be missed by all.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her son, Hezekiah James Jr.;  grandson, Koterio "KJ" James;  brothers, Calvin Watson, Steve Watson and Wright Watson; sisters, Agatha Wright, Ernestine Covington, and Flora Elliot.

Mother Ruby departed this life Monday December 25, 2023 at Trellis Supportive Care Center.

She leaves cherished memories to her beloved and faithful husband, Robert Turner; her; daughters, Debra James, Cynthia Hardy, and Sharee (James) Smith; twenty-four grandchildren; thirty great grandchildren; ten great-great grandchildren;  a brother, Glennell Watson;  a host of nieces, nephews, godchildren, many other relatives and friends including a devoted brother-in-law, Bishop Claude (Virginia) Turner.

Funeral services will be held 1:00 pm Saturday January 6, 2024 in the chapel of Hooper Funeral Home. The family will receive  friends from 12:30pm-1:00pm at the funeral home.
