Mr. Rufus L. Greene, known to many as "Tink," was born April 27, 1980 to the late Rufus Potter Jr. and Tandalia Greene in Forsyth County. He took his flight from this earthly home, to his heavenly home on Saturday, October 21, 2023.

Mr. Greene attended the Winston-Salem Forsyth County schools and was a 1999 graduate of R. J. Reynolds High School where he was a member of the football team.  Tink went on to further his education at Chowan College.  He was employed by the State of N.C. Department of Transportation (D.O.T.) for many years and was planning his early retirement.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his adopted parents, William and Mary Pollard; paternal grandparents, Rufus and Mary Potter Sr., maternal grandparents, Thomas and Beulah Greene.

Mr. Greene leaves to cherish precious memories to one daughter whom he greatly , greatly adored, Elizabeth Ashley Greene; one sister, Shawanda Greene; one brother, Sherod Greene; a  devoted guardian, Blondella Johnson Parks (Larry R.I.H.); two cousins/sisters, Urica Johnson Michael (John) and JuVonne Johnson Davis (Cliff); two cousins/brothers, Larry Johnson Jr. and Rico Johnson (Schanee); a host of aunts, uncles, other cousins and many, many devoted friends.

Funeral services will be held at 12 noon Sunday November 5, 2023 in the chapel of Hooper Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 11:30am-12:00pm Sunday at the funeral home. His remains may be viewed Saturday from 12pm-6pm at the funeral home.

Mr. Greene's love for his family and all the lives he touched will be greatly missed, but his sweet and humble memories will live forever.
