Born in Darlington, South Carolina, on September 3, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Charity Nelson and the beloved wife of the late Calvin McQueen. She was a cherished member of her community.
Sadie dedicated her life to caring for others. She retired as a Professional Housekeeper from Budd Services, following a career that also included time spent in the textile industry. However, the largest portion of her work was her profound dedication as a home care provider for those in need.

Her active service to her church community included membership in the Senior Missionary, the Golden Ages Ministry, and as a Senior Usher. Furthermore, she served as the Secretary of the Friendly 12 Community Club. One of her greatest strengths and lasting legacies was her amazing baking; her famous lemon cake was always a main staple at all church events, a testament to her warmth and generosity.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Calvin McQueen, her devoted son, Leroy Nelson, her son-in-law, Thomas Leake, and her grandsons, Lamont Nelson and Eric Nelson.
Sadie was a devoted and loving mother. She is survived by her cherished daughter, Carolyn McQueen Leake, her devoted daughter-in-law, Lily Nelson, her sister, Mary Fisher, and a host of devoted nieces and nephews.
Her beloved grandchildren include Michael Nelson, Jeffrey Nelson, Michelle Leake, Lorraine Leake, Thomas Wiley Leake III, and Samuel Leake. She is also survived by 14 great-grandchildren and 14 great-great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
