Mr.  Sam Frank McCollum was born May 12, 1920 in Laurinburg,  South Carolina to the late Sam and Jannie Everett McCollum. He had been a resident of Brooklyn, New York before he entered the United States Air Force.  Mr. McCollum served as an auto equipment operator while in the Air Force for three years two months and 23 days.

He retired as a supervisor at the Berkey Factory.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother and one sister. Mr. McCollum departed this life Saturday, October 26, 2019 at the North Carolina State Veterans Home in Salisbury, North Carolina.

He survived by his wife Elizabeth R. McCollum; one son Darius McCollum; other extended relatives and friends.

Graveside services will be conducted at 11am Friday November 15, 2019 at the Salisbury National Cemetery with military rites.
