Ms. Sha-Lynn India Weekes Banner,"aka, Mama Shaye", was born September 23, 1957 in Atlantic City, NJ to the late Oliver  "Shady" Shade  and Doris Vivian  Weekes. She was a graduate of Atlantic City High School and later attended Atlantic Cape Community College.

Ms. Banner has been a resident of Winston-Salem since 1994. She was employed by Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center (now Atrium Health) as a Physician Access Line Operator until her health failed.

Spiritually, she was a member of The Belonging Church of Charlotte, NC.  Ms. Banner loved children and she was everyone's mother. In her spare time she loved shopping and was known for her stylish fashions.  She loved to sing and dance.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death, by brother, Derek Weekes. Ms. Banner departed this life Friday September 16, 2022 at Trellis Supportive Care Center following a period of illness.

She is survived by her daughter, Shanita Scott and her father, Earl White; three grandchildren, Camden Scott, Kamille Scott-Noble and Kevin Noble III; one sister, Colleen Thompson of Pleasantville, NJ; two brothers, Kim Weekes of Trenton, NJ and Brett Weekes ( Dr. Victor Gazzara-Weekes) of Pleasantville, NJ, a host of other relatives, children, nieces, nephews, and plenty of  special/devoted friends including Debra Hale, Shmeka Tisdale, Dee Dee Dykes, Carrie Woods, and Delores Jones.

A homegoing celebration will be held 1:00 pm Friday September 23, 2022 in the chapel of Hooper Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 12:30pm-1:00pm at the funeral home Friday. Her remains may be viewed Thursday September 22, 2022 from 12pm-6pm at the funeral home.
