Ms. Sharmel Diane Gray was born September 7, 1972 in Richmond Virginia to Benjamin and Carolyn Gray. She was a 1990 graduate of Carver High School. She later attended Forsyth Technical Community College.

Sharmel loved to read, write and cross stitch. In spite of her illnesses she persevered and was a fighter. Spiritually, she was of the Baptist faith.

She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Erskie and Cora Ingram; paternal grandparents Bennie and Margretta Gray. She departed this life Monday June 19, 2023.

She is survived by her parents; Benjamin and Carolyn Gray of Kernersville, NC; sister, Traci Gray of Baltimore, MD; aunt, Anna (Clarence) Gilliam; uncles,  Calvin Ingram  and Cecil (Margaret) Ingram all of Wins ton-Salem, NC; a host of cousins including special cousins, Carolyn Archie and Barbara Brinkley; her village; Waltina Wharton, Patricia Holiday, Mary Douthit, Paula Turner, Sylvia Roundtree, Teresa Tyson and Jackie Payton.

Funeral services will be held 1:00 pm Friday, June 23, 2023 at Galilee Missionary Baptist Church. The family will receive friends from 12:30pm-1:00pm at the church. Online condolences may be sent to www.hooperfuneralhome.net
