Mrs. Shirley Randleman Hughes was born to Jasper and Dorothy Randleman on August 22, 1936 in  Tobaccoville, NC.  She peacefully transitioned to glory on Thursday May 18, 2023.

She was a graduate of Carver High School Winston-Salem, NC  and attended Bennett College, Greensboro, NC. She graduated from McLean's Business School of  Winston-Salem, NC. Mrs. Hughes retired from Headstart where she was a preschool teacher for many years. Her spiritual home was Center Grove AME Church.

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; her husband  of 16 years Curtis and sister, Ellen Lomax Banner.

She was a devoted mother to four sons, Curtis Fitzgerald Hughes(Tonya), Chucky Darryl Hughes, Chet Donameche Hughes and Chris Brinkley Hughes(Bernice); one daughter, Shirley "Starr" Hughes Hairston(Edmond); a brother Jasper Leon Randleman; a sister, Phyllis Randleman Ijames; ten grandchildren; seven great grandchildren;  a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

A memorial service will be held 1:00 pm Friday May 26, 2023 in the chapel of Hooper Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 12:30pm-1:00pm at the funeral home.
