Miss Sonia Renae Duncan, daughter of David Payne Duncan, Sr. and Ida N. Duncan, was born July 30, 1965 in Winston-Salem, NC.  She received her heavenly wings on Tuesday, January 3, 2023 at Novant Health Forsyth Medical Center.

Sonia attended the local public schools and graduated from Parkland High School, Class of 1984.  She was employed with the Marriott Hotel Chain for 20 plus years.

Sonia loved the Lord, joined the Shiloh Baptist Church at an early age, and was actively involved with the Youth Choir and Youth Ushers Ministry.  As a Young Adult, she was a member of the Gospel Choir, Captain of the Security Ministry and Van Driver.

Sonia's life was a living example of love.  Her love and compassion overflowed not only for her family, but for the many mothers, sisters, aunts, uncles and oooh, so many cousins that she claimed.   She was always happy, energetic, smiling and willing to do whatever she could to make you happy.

Sonia was preceded in death by her father, David Payne Duncan, Sr.; grandparents; and several other relatives.

Most dear and precious memories will be cherished by her mother, Ida N. Duncan; loving son, Joshua Warren; grandson, RaAmun Warren; one brother, David P. Duncan, Jr. (Sharal); two sisters, Debra D. Mack (Clinton), Stephanie D. Squire; nephews, Brent Mack, Antonio Duncan (Kristal), Chris Mack; nieces, LaToya Mack, Shanda Duggins (Mike); great nieces and nephews, Kaylah, Xavier, Bethany, Aria, Railyn, Emorie, Makya; three aunts, Jacqueline Brooks, Bobbietta Payne and Helen Wu; one uncle, Thomas Drake; God children, Paris Giles and Jamal O'Neal; and a host of loving cousins and many, many friends, including special childhood friends, Sylvia Britt, Carla Fenner and Ernest Johnson, Jr..

Family visitation will be held 12 noon on Tuesday January 10th 2023 at Shiloh Baptist Church with funeral service following at 1 pm .
