Spurgeon Odell Stevenson II also known to family as "Sonny " was born to the late Reverend Spurgeon B. Stevenson and Eleanor Harris on  November 26, 1944. He departed this earthly life on Thursday, June 24, 2021.

In July of 1969, Spurgeon entered the service and served in the Marine Corp till July of 1971.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by sisters Diane Stephens and Blondean Foster.

Spurgeon leaves to cherish his loving and devoted wife Sandra O. Stevenson; five children: Spurgeon O. Stevenson III, Trevin Stevenson, Chris Brown (Regina), Lorena Stevenson, Debra Stevenson (Ronald), and one special daughter, Cindy Pompey Smith; grandchildren, D'Asia Stevenson, Aniya Stevenson, Ayden Stevenson, and special granddaughter, Zaria Pompey Smith; sisters: Vivian Walters, Mary Ann King, Bendetta Stevenson, Wanda Stevenson Cage, and Gladys Patten; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

The family will receive friends 3pm Saturday, July 3, 2021 at New Hope Baptist Church with the funeral service following at 3:30pm.
