Sylvester Jones, Sr, also known as Jimmy or 'Bones' to family and friends, was born in Winston-Salem, North Carolina on July 21 ^st , 1941.  His Sunset came on July 31 ^st 2021.  In between he led an incredible life. Sylvester attended the Winston-Salem Public School system, attended Atkins High School and he successfully graduated in 1961.  Upon graduation he embarked on a journey that led him to the great State of New York.  On a fateful day, whilst enjoying his lunch, he met the love of his life, Brenda Jean Ingram…and soon they were married.  Their marital union produced three children: Sylvester Jr, Belton, and Sylver Lynn.  Sylvester (Jimmy), went on work for General Motors – in both Linden, NJ and Tarrytown, NY – in various positions over four decades; his work ethic was tremendous, it was not uncommon for him to not miss any workdays during a calendar year. Upon retirement, he returned to Winston-Salem and continued to engage in one his favorite pastimes – playing golf, in which he received many trophies and accolades.  Sylvester accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior, and became a member of Mt. Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church.

Sylvester Sr. is survived by his wife of over 50 years, Brenda, his children, AnnaMaria, Sylvester Jr, Belton, and Sylver Lynn.  He is also survived by his siblings:  Priscilla (Marshall) McDuffie, Reginald Barnett (Cheryl) Jones, Vanessa Jones, Denise (Terry) Jackson, Towanda (Clarence) Britton; a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews and many loving friends far and wide. His life is to be celebrated and he will forever be missed by many.

The family will receive friends 10:30am Saturday, Aug. 7, 2021 at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church with funeral services following at 11am.
