Tamara Yvette
Willis
Sep 15, 1959 — Nov 1, 2020
The world lost a gem when Tamara Yvette Willis silently passed away Sunday, November 1, 2020. Tamara was born September 15, 1959 in Winston-Salem, NC and had been a resident of Charlotte, NC for the past 20 years. Tamara was a Class of 1981 graduate of Virginia State University with a Bachelor of Science in Sociology. Tamara was fortunate to experience two fulfilling careers. For approximately 17 years, Tamara worked with the Department of Justice as an analyst with the FBI in both Washington, DC and Tallahassee, Florida. With a desire to be closer to her beloved mother, Tamara moved to Winston-Salem, North Carolina and pursued a Masters degree in Education/Special Education from Salem College (2000). Tamara immediately began teaching at Northridge Middle School in Charlotte, NC, where she would serve that community for the next 20 years. Tamara's service extended through her community outreach as a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, where she proudly participated in events with the Charlotte Alumnae Chapter. Tamara's commitment to family, friends, colleagues, sorors, and former and current students will be forever treasured. Tamara is survived by her brother, Craig (Jennifer) Willis; nieces Jilian, Kira, and Jenna; nephew, Lucas Willis, of Halfmoon , NY. Her parents, James Henry Willis and Yvonne Bacote Willis, have preceded her in death. "Love never dies". Graveside services will be held in Winston-Salem, NC at a later date.
