Thelma Mae Jones Osia was born on March 22, 1952 to the late John Henry and Elzada Rice Jones in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.
Thelma was married to and the caretaker to the love of her life, Mr. Richard Osia for over 50 years until his passing. She was also preceded in death by her sisters Velma & Elizabeth Jones and Lucinda LeGree, brothers Ben Lee, Robert, and Eddie Jones. She departed this life Tuesday January 16, 2024 at her residence.
Thelma leaves behind to cherish her memories, her 2 children, Richard(TiRhonda) Osia and Shantara Terry, of Winston-Salem, a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Siblings- mama Mary (Julius) Phillips, John Willie Jones of Winston-Salem. Allen (Joyce) Jones, Betty Jones and Louella Nimrod of the Houston, Texas area. A special friend, Jerold Pearson, her Kingsberry Park community and her beloved church family at the Eastside Church of Christ, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.
Thelma was educated in the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County School system and attended Atkins High School. She retired from Salemtowne Retirement Community and became a care person and support to many. Some of Thelma's loves included taking pictures, family gatherings, football and of course her love for and working in the church while spreading the gospel. Thelma was a fashionable lady and her love for hats to match any outfit she wore was always known. She was always ready to take a picture and to share a smile.
Thelma will be missed by many!
A service celebrating her life will be held 1:00pm Saturday January 20, 2024 at Eastside Church of Christ, 536 Barbara Jane Ave Winston-Salem, NC 27101. The family will receive friends from 12:30 pm-1:00pm at the church.
