Obituary

Dr. Tia Lynette Jackson Cain was born January 27, 1973 to Alberta Nelson and the late Floyd Jackson, Sr. in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.  She attended the Winston-Salem, Forsyth County schools and was a 1991 graduate of Glenn High School. She later matriculated to Salem College where she received a degree in Education. After which she received a Masters degree from Phoenix University in Education and Communications. Mrs. Cain believed in education and helping others to receive their education. She then attended Northcentral University in Arizona where she received a Doctorate in Education.

Dr. Cain was always tutoring, educating and volunteering to help those in the community to further their education. She was employed WGU (Western Governors University).Spiritually, she was a devoted member of Beulah Tabernacle Holiness Church where she served in many capacities as a Sunday school teacher, on the choir devotional leader, event planner, secretary and Usher board. In addition to her father, Floyd Jackson Sr. preceding her in death are two brothers, Wallace Jackson and Ramar Jackson, her godmother, Ruth Jackson who raised her, uncles Roy Nelson and Jack Nelson also preceded her in death.

Dr. Cain loved her family dearly. She was a giver and loved making sure everyone was okay. They considered her the matriarch of the family looking out for everyone else. She departed this life Saturday September 28, 2024 at Novant Health Forsyth Medical Center.

She leaves cherished memories to her husband of the home, Lamont Cain, Sr.; her children, Brittany (Marcus) Johnson of Greensboro, NC, Lamont Cain, Jr. and Christian Cain all of Winston-Salem, NC; her mother, Alberta Nelson; siblings, Aurenee McCall, Floyd Jackson III and Teresa Holland; aunt, Patricia Rhyne; uncle, Joe Nelson all of Winston-Salem, NC; a host of other sisters, nieces, nephews, other relatives including a goddaughter, Selena Davis; devoted cousins, Cynthia Martin, Katherine Mack and Arlisa Greene; devoted friend, April Bowman. Funeral services will be held 12:00 pm Thursday, October 10, 2024 in the chapel of Hooper Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 11:30am-12:00pm Thursday at the funeral home.
