Vanessa Odessa Dixon died after a brief illness on March 10, 2022 at Caldwell Medical Center in Lenoir, North Carolina.  Born on May 9, 1959 Vanessa was the seventh of seven children born to Robert and Martha (Ross) Dixon.

Vanessa graduated from the South Park High School in 1977.  She accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior at Mars Hill Baptist Church and faithfully attended Sunday school and morning service.

Vanessa was a quiet but independent spirit who always had a sparkle in her eyes and enjoyed a good laugh.  She enjoyed putting puzzles together, coloring, walking in parks (most days) and traveling to visit with family in Cambridge and Cincinnati and to the beach.  Any kind of shopping was a special treat to Vanessa.

Vanessa was preceded in death by her son, Richard Dixon, Parents, Robert & Martha Dixon, her sisters, Cynthia Fair, Vera Kaye Carter, Barbara Ann Dixon, and brother Willie Dixon.

Vanessa leaves to celebrate her memory a son, Bernard Dixon; brothers Vance (Tandra) Dixon of Winston-Salem and Weldon (Carla) Dixon Cincinnati, Ohio; twelve nieces and nephews with a host of great nieces, great nephews, relatives and friends.

The memorial service for Vanessa will be held 12:00 pm Monday March 21, 2022 at Hooper Funeral Home Chapel,1415 14 ^th Street NE Winston-Salem, NC 27105. The family will receive friends from 11:00 am-12:00 pm at the funeral home.
