Ms. Vera Belle Roseborough, Nickname "Tobe" was born to the late John Calvin Roseborough and Beulah McMillan Roseborough in Forsyth County, North Carolina. In addition to her parents, six siblings preceded her in death, Joesph Roseborough, Wade Roseborough, Haywood Roseborough, Leretha R. Pankey, Dermetta R. Jones and Dorothy R. Hunter.
Vera accepted Christ at a very young age at Mt. Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church. She sang on the Young People's Choir.
Vera was educated in Winston-Salem, Forsyth County public schools. While attending Kimberly Park Elementary, she acquired an insatiable love for music that she took into her high school educational experience. Upon entering Atkins High School, Vera auditioned for the band and became a proud member where she played the clarinet and trombone under the
direction of Mr. Harry Wheeler. She then enrolled at Winston-Salem Teacher's College which is now WSSU where she pursued an undergraduate degree in Elementary Education and became a member of the WSSU Marching 100's band where she played the tuba.
Upon graduating, Vera decide to move to Baltimore, Maryland, found employment in Baltimore City Schools where she worked for 30 years and focused daily on making a difference in the lives of children whom she taught and loved. She returned to school and received a Master's Degree from Coppin State College. Because of her strong relationship with her God
Presence within, Vera was able to enjoy her life to the fullest. She enjoyed attending church and musical concerts, cultural activities such as art exhibits and theater, traveling, decorating, shopping and cooking for family and friends.
Vera had a passion for fashion and design which put sewing at the center of her interest at a very early age. Vera was a women of exquisite taste and she always dressed to the "Nines"!
Vera returned from Baltimore City School System and returned to Winston-Salem to be with her family. She departed this life Tuesday February 17, 2026 at her residence.
She leaves to cherish loving memories, her daughter, Lisa Roseborough, her sister-in-law, Zelma Roseborough of Cypress, Texas and a host of living nieces, nephews, extended family members and dear friends from North Carolina and Baltimore, Maryland.
Vera's warm smile, gentle spirit, and loving heart touched everyone she met and will forever remain the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
A Service of Memory will be held at 11:30 am Saturday March 21, 2026 at Mt. Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church, 495 NW Crawford Place Winston-Salem, NC 27105. The family will receive friends from 11:00am-11:30am Saturday at the church.
