Ms. Verlene Elaine Jones was born April 25, 1967 to Jacqueline Jones and the late Howard Lewis Mason in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. She  attended the Winston Salem Forsyth county public schools and was a 1981 graduate of Parkland High School.

Ms Jones loved traveling and playing Bingo was her pastime favorite. She never met a stranger in all of her travels.

She was  departed this life Monday December 25, 2023 at her residence.

She leaves cherished memories to her mother , Jacqueline Jones of the home; a sister, Latonia Chalmers; two brothers, Howard Jones and Bryant Jones; three aunts, Carolyn Jones Rucker, Gail Jones and Cheryl( Michael) Miller; her devoted friend and travel"Road dog" Buck Wilson; all of her nieces and nephews who were her favorites; a host of other relatives and best friends including her devoted cousin, Melissa Jones and her Bingo partners.

Funeral services will be held 1:00 PM Tuesday January 2, 2024 at First Waughtown Baptist Church. The family will receive friends from 12pm-1pm at the church. Interment will follow in Piedmont Memorial Gardens.
