Obituary

Our loved one, Vernoid Capus Campbell was the first of six children born to the late Bertha Campbell Guest in Winston-Salem, NC on September 9, 1945.  He departed this life on Sunday, October 31, 2021.  Vernoid was the respected patriarch of the family and will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Vernoid attended Atkins High School.  He graduated from a Technical School obtaining his Brick Mason License.  He was a hard working man that worked two jobs most of his adult life to build a great life for his family.  He passed down to his children a great work ethic and taught them principles of saving and investing.   He provided great financial advice to family and friends.

Vernoid retired from Forsyth County Services after 30 years of service. He was also self employed as a Brick Mason for over 30 years.  As a hobby, He loved to fish and enjoyed taking deep sea fishing trips.  For many years, he was part of several bowling leagues at the North Side Bowling Lanes. He enjoyed having fun with family and friends especially his good friend Paul Frazier (aka Blue).

He was a member of Goler Metropolitan AME Zion Church where he served on the Usher board.

In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his son Vernoid Capus Campbell, Jr. (Junior).

He leaves to cherish his loving memories, his devoted wife of 58 years, Constance Campbell; His devoted five children, Mark (China) Campbell of W-S, NC, Angela Harris of Greensboro, NC, Verna (Aziz) Hosawi of Jeddah, Saudi Arabia and Vernita Chambers of W-S, NC, and Dishawn Campbell of W-S, NC who is Vernoid's great grandson that he raised as a son a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren;. He is also survived by his siblings; Mattie (Joseph) Wilson, David (Dorothy) Campbell, William (Paulette) Campbell, Frank Gregory Guest, Jr., Donald Guest, and; mother-in-law, Antionette Pollard;  Sisters-in Law, Rudine Holmes, Stephanie(Reginald) Kay, Valerie (Curtis) Canty, brothers-in-law, Eric (Barbara) Pollard, Curtis Pollard. and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends including a good friend. Paul Frazier (aka Blue).

Funeral services will be held 4:00 pm Friday November 5,2021in the chapel of Hooper Funeral Home. His remains may be viewed Thursday, November 4, 2021 from 12pm-6pm at Hooper Funeral Home.
