William James Latten, Jr., at age 87, responded to the Master's call on Sunday night , September 4,2022 in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.

William , one of sixteen children, was born in Catawba County, North Carolina on July 1 , 1935 to Elizabeth Scott Latten and William James Latten . Brother Latten ' s family moved to Clemmons, North Carolina at an early age. He attended the public schools and graduated from Carver Consolidated School in 1953 . T he school became an example of excellence for the entire county. He worked and retired from Young Phillips Graphic and Printing in Winston-Salem , North Carolina.

Brother Latten has been a steward for Christ all his life. As a child he worshipped at Capernaum Church of Christ in Clemmons, North Carolina. He served as a faithful officiating Brother for more than thirty-five plus years at the Thomas Street Church of Christ in Salisbury, North Carolina. Due to distance dri v ing , he joined Patterson Avenue Church of Christ, Winston-Salem, North Carolina where Minister Barry Robinson officiated.

William married the love of his life, Juanita Hale and to this union two sons were born , Ricky Latten  and Keith Latten ( deceased) .

He leaves to cherish dear memories, his son R i cky Latten (significant other, Cheryl Simmons); two sisters, Emma McGowen of Atlanta , Georg i a and Josephine Latten of Clemmons, NC; one brother, Matthew Latten of Atlan t a , Geo r gia ; three special brothers-in-law, Don (Jacqueline) Hale , Terry ( Deb r a ) H ale and Kenneth " Rick" (Bonnie) Cooper; a devoted niece, Sharon Latten , a de v oted nephew, Booker T. McCloud, Ill; and a host of nieces, nephews , relati v es a n d friends.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 am Friday September 16, 2022 at the Carver Road Church of Christ. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:30am-11:00am at the church. His remains may be viewed Thursday from 12pm-6pm at the funeral home.
